Where: Remote sessions › Diagnostics › Live dashboard (in the app, Vehicles › the vehicle › “Live dashboard”)
1. Preparing a dashboard
- Press “New dashboard” and type the “Dashboard name” (for example, “Engine”).
- Press “Add instrument”, choose the “Type” (Gauge, Number, Bar or Chart) and the “Signal” from the list: signals of this vehicle, OBD (cars and vans) or J1939 (trucks and machinery).
- If you like, set “Minimum”, “Maximum” and the warnings “Warn below” and “Warn above”.
- Choose the “Reading rate” (every 250 ms by default) and, if you like, “Share with the workshop”.
2. Watching live
- In “Watch live”, choose the “Unit”, the “Dashboard” and the “Maximum duration” (1, 5, 10 or 30 minutes) and press “Start”.
- You see “Waiting for the unit (up to 30 s)…” and then “Live”. Each value shows its age; “No new data” means it has not changed for more than 2 seconds.
- Press “Stop” when you are done. Then you can “Save as a log”, “Export CSV” or “Print or PDF”.
| If it ends with… | What it means |
|---|---|
| The vehicle does not answer: check the ignition is on | Turn the ignition on and start again. |
| The vehicle offers none of the panel's signals | That vehicle does not have those signals: choose others in “Signals of this vehicle”. |
| The unit is busy with another task. | Wait until the read or function in progress finishes. |
3. For advanced users
- Up to 16 signals per dashboard and 20 dashboards. The rate goes from 100 to 2000 ms on the web; the app uses 250 ms.
- On UDS control units that support it, the unit can request periodic data (periodic identifiers, shown as “pDID” followed by their number): the control unit sends them by itself and the unit keeps the latest value every 250 ms.
- The CSV has the columns Time (s), Signal, Value and Unit.
Tip: The live dashboard only reads: it changes nothing in the vehicle.
