DoIP (ISO 13400): diagnostics over Ethernet
DoIP (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol, ISO 13400) is vehicle diagnostics over Ethernet and TCP/IP instead of the CAN bus. It uses pins 3, 11, 12 and 13 of the OBD socket, and the test equipment activates it through pin 8.

When you need it
- Cars that only open diagnostics or programming over Ethernet
- Large flash jobs, where DoIP's 100 Mbit/s saves time compared with CAN
- Vehicles that need Ethernet activated from pin 8 before they communicate
Which Diaglana device covers it, and its limits
- ECO-LITE
- DoIP 100BASE-TX on pins 3, 11, 12 and 13, with activation through pin 8. It checks the pins before activating.
- ECO-LITE TOOL
- Reproduces the remote car's DoIP for your tool and offers Ethernet to your PC in pass-thru mode (SAE J2534-2).
- ECOPRO Gen4
- DoIP in the workshop station. In development.
Frequently asked questions
What does DoIP stand for?
Diagnostics over Internet Protocol: UDS diagnostics travels over TCP/IP on automotive Ethernet. It's defined by ISO 13400.
Why does DoIP share pins with CAN?
The J1962 socket has 16 pins and the Ethernet option uses 3, 11, 12 and 13. In ECO-LITE, a relay switches pins 3 and 11 between the second CAN channel and Ethernet.
Is it faster than CAN?
The link runs at 100 Mbit/s, far above a CAN bus. The real speed of a remote flash also depends on the connection at both ends.
Will my DoIP tool work remotely?
ECO-LITE TOOL gives it the same socket as the car, but every tool has its own requirements: ask us before you buy.
