Getting started with remote work

What does a repair shop need to offer remote diagnostics?

A repair shop needs ECO-LITE in the OBD port of every car it wants to serve remotely, a shop account on the Diaglana platform and a Wi-Fi network the device can join. To work with its own diagnostic or programming tool, it adds ECO-LITE TOOL on its desk. The driver authorizes every session with the button on the device.

What does the customer's car need?

ECO-LITE plugged into the OBD port (SAE J1962). It is powered by the vehicle itself, works on 12 and 24 V and speaks the diagnostic protocols from 2005 onwards: CAN and CAN FD, DoIP, K-Line, SW-CAN and J1939.

It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and stores up to 5 networks: the customer's home, their workplace or their phone's hotspot. It stays in the car and sleeps while the vehicle is parked.

And the repair shop?

A shop account on the Diaglana platform, on the web or in the app. From it you register devices with the code on the label, hand them over to your customers, open remote sessions and keep every reading in the vehicle's history, with work orders, scheduling and signed reports.

To read and clear trouble codes, watch live data and get the report, that is all you need: the platform does it with ECO-LITE. To code or flash with your usual tool you also need ECO-LITE TOOL, which reproduces the remote car's OBD port on your desk.

What does the customer have to do?

Accept the device in their account, plug it in and connect it to their Wi-Fi by scanning the QR code on the label, with no app to install. When you open a session, the device beeps and flashes blue: a short press of the button authorizes it and a long press declines it.

Without that press nothing happens, and every access is logged in the customer's privacy center.

What should you set up before your first customer?

Invite your team and give each person their role (shop manager, service advisor, technician, programming or inspection), fill in your company details for estimates and reports, and connect your payment account if you are going to take payments online.

Start with a customer you trust and a read-only job. Keep in mind that the devices are in pre-production: remote sessions with ECO-LITE TOOL will open once the remote connection service is in production.

The devices are in pre-production or presale: figures may be adjusted after validating the first units. Whether a given tool, program or make works depends on that tool, program or make.

The devices to do it

To start with your usual tool, the remote kit brings ECO-LITE for the car and ECO-LITE TOOL for your desk. If you will only read codes and data, one ECO-LITE per customer is enough.

Remote kit · Presale price: €299 · US$299. No subscription.

Presale: no stock and no delivery date yet. Reserve your unit in the shop.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my own diagnostic tool?

Not to read and clear codes, watch live data and get the report: the platform does that with ECO-LITE. To code or program with your tool you also need ECO-LITE TOOL.

Do I need one ECO-LITE TOOL per car?

No. Your ECO-LITE TOOL connects, session by session, to the ECO-LITE of the car you are working on.

Which vehicles can I work on?

Cars, vans and trucks with diagnostic protocols from 2005 onwards, on 12 or 24 V. Each function depends on the make and model.
