How do you roll out remote diagnostics in a fleet?

What needs preparing?

A fleet organization on Diaglana, with its vehicles (each identified by its VIN) and its devices, and the shop that will serve it. Check the depot's network: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA2 or WPA3 Personal, with no sign-in page and no username and password.

If the fleet has trucks, check whether their diagnostic port is the 16-pin J1962: the round 9-pin connector needs an adapter cable that is not included.

How is it installed in each vehicle?

It plugs into the OBD port, joins Wi-Fi when you scan the QR code on the label and is registered with the “Add to account” QR code. It stores up to 5 networks: the depot's and, if needed, the phone of each regular driver.

The device is powered by the vehicle, works on 12 and 24 V and sleeps while the vehicle is parked.

What should drivers be told?

What the device is for, that it does not track the vehicle (it has no GPS or modem) and that no session starts unless they press the button. If your employees drive the vehicles, include it in your privacy policy as well.

Explain the lights: flashing blue with a beep is a session request; amber with a beep every 10 seconds, a flash that must not be interrupted; flashing red with a beep, low vehicle battery.

What happens when a vehicle joins or leaves the fleet?

The device is unplugged and moved to another vehicle, or transferred to another organization from Transfers and warranty. Holding the button for 20 seconds forgets the stored networks.

For a vehicle that joins or leaves, the shop can issue a pre-purchase report with what its ECUs answer.
