Each unit has a single owner: your personal account or an organization. Use is shared: a workshop can use the unit you contribute and an organization records which person on its team has each one.
1. Contribute your unit to the workshop where you work
- In My units, press “Contribute to the workshop” on the unit.
- Choose the workshop. Only the workshops you are in now appear.
- Confirm your identity with two-step verification and press “Contribute”.
The workshop uses it as its own equipment (it also counts for the expert marketplace), but it is still yours. The contribution ends by itself, at that very moment, if you leave the workshop, and you can withdraw it with “Withdraw the contribution”. The workshop can also remove it with “Remove from the workshop”.
2. Move a unit to your workshop or another organization of yours
- Press “Transfer” on the unit.
- In “Destination”, choose your organization. If you own it and the platform is set up that way, “(free)” appears.
- Confirm with two-step verification and press “Transfer”. The unit changes owner at once.
3. Sell or give a unit to another person or organization
- Press “Transfer” and choose “Another person or organization (with a code)”.
- Copy the code shown and give it to whoever receives the unit. It is only shown once and is valid for 14 days.
- The receiver signs in to their account, goes to “Receive a unit”, types the code and presses “Accept the unit”.
- If the transfer has a fee, either of you pays it with “Pay” in Transfers. The unit changes owner once it is paid.
4. Record who uses each unit of your organization
- “Who uses it”: choose the person and whether it is “Assigned” (they have it as a rule) or a “Loan” (with an optional return date).
- Assigning it to someone else closes the previous assignment; “Mark as returned” closes it.
- If the person leaves the organization, their assignment ends by itself. It does not change what anyone can do: it only records who has it.
| Transfer status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for the receiver to accept it with the code |
| Payment pending | Accepted; it completes once the fee is paid |
| Completed | The unit now belongs to the new owner |
| Declined / Withdrawn | The receiver did not want it or the owner withdrew it; the unit stays as it was |
| Expired | Not accepted or not paid in time; the unit still belongs to the owner |
Important: When a transfer completes, the unit starts afresh with its new owner: new permissions and identity, no contributions or assignments. Customers' readings, sessions, consents and orders stay with the organization where they were made: the new owner sees nothing.
Tip: A unit handed over to a customer, with an open warranty case or with another transfer in progress cannot be transferred until that is over.
