Your tool and programming
Can you program an ECU remotely, and what are the risks?
Yes: with ECO-LITE in the car and ECO-LITE TOOL on your desk, your tool codes, adapts or flashes the ECU as if the car were in the shop. The main risks are a dropped connection and a low battery during writing, so before you start, check the coverage at both ends and put a battery maintainer on the car.

What are the risks of a remote flash?
The same as in the shop, plus one: the connection. An interrupted flash can leave the ECU half-written, and remotely the interruption can come from the car's Wi-Fi, the shop's connection or the vehicle's battery.
That is why speed and stability depend on the connection at both ends, and the device does not start a flash with a low battery.
What should you check before starting?
That the car's battery is charged or on a maintainer; that the car's Wi-Fi and the shop's connection are stable; that your tool has its licenses and the manufacturer's access; and that ECO-LITE TOOL has its USB-C charger connected (65 W, or 100 W for 24 V).
The customer first sees what will be done, whether it will write or reprogram and for how long, and accepts with their second factor; when writing through ECO-LITE, they also confirm it in the car with the button.
What happens while writing?
ECO-LITE signals it with an amber light and a beep every 10 seconds: do not unplug it or turn off the ignition. If the connection drops, the device keeps the session state for at least 10 minutes to reconnect without resetting the ECU.
Every frame of the session is recorded for 5 years, and the customer can withdraw consent at any time.
What can't be done remotely?
Bypassing your tool's licenses or the manufacturer's protected access, calibrations that need targets, alignment or a lift, and any job that needs hands on the car.
Nor is there a guarantee that a given program or make will work: it depends on each one. And the devices are in pre-production: remote sessions with ECO-LITE TOOL will open once the remote connection service is in production.
The devices are in pre-production or presale: figures may be adjusted after validating the first units. Whether a given tool, program or make works depends on that tool, program or make.
The devices to do it
To program remotely you need both devices: ECO-LITE in the car and ECO-LITE TOOL on your desk. They are sold together as the remote kit.
Remote kit · Presale price: €299 · US$299. No subscription.
Presale: no stock and no delivery date yet. Reserve your unit in the shop.
Frequently asked questions
What if the connection drops in the middle of a flash?
That is the main risk of programming remotely. The device keeps the session for at least 10 minutes to reconnect, but the prudent course is not to start on an unstable connection and to keep the battery on a maintainer.
Can I program from the PC without a tool?
Yes, if your program uses a PassThru interface: ECO-LITE TOOL offers J2534, D-PDU and RP1210 to the PC.
Does it work with DoIP?
Yes: ECO-LITE has DoIP 100BASE-TX with activation on pin 8, and ECO-LITE TOOL reproduces it for your tool. Each tool has its own requirements: ask us before you buy.
